You’ll step into a Roman kitchen and actively prepare traditional dishes with your own hands, guided naturally by Ilaria. Along the way, you’ll learn family tricks behind each recipe — gestures and timing that never make it into cookbooks — and then enjoy everything you’ve cooked together in a warm, relaxed atmosphere.
This is not a cooking class in the traditional sense. It’s a dining experience in a real Roman home in Trastevere, where you cook together, talk, drink wine, and sit at the table like locals do. No uniforms or professional kitchens — just a family home, real food, and genuine connection.
If you truly want to understand what Italian cooking feels like, there’s no better place than a family kitchen. Born and raised in Rome, Ilaria comes from three generations of chefs and loves sharing not only recipes, but also the memories and traditions behind them.

This experience is designed for everyone : complete beginners, confident home cooks, couples, solo travelers, and families with children. With a small group of no more than 8 guests, there’s plenty of time to cook, chat, ask questions, and enjoy each moment at an easy, unhurried pace. Together, you’ll make fresh pasta completely from scratch, shaping 3 classic types : fettuccine, ravioli, and orecchiette. You’ll then prepare 3 traditional Roman sauces — cacio e pepe, fresh tomato sauce with basil, and Norma sauce — using seasonal ingredients and time-tested techniques. Along the way, you’ll enjoy small appetizers, wine, and plenty of conversation. Once everything is ready, you’ll sit down together to share the meal — often the most memorable part of the experience, when cooking naturally turns into connection. To finish, you’ll prepare Tiramisu following Ilaria’s family recipe : simple, honest, and deeply satisfying. You’ll leave with practical skills, recipes that truly work at home, and above all, the memory of time spent in a Roman kitchen where strangers become guests, and guests leave feeling like friends.

Ahh life has been busy post honeymoon but we still think about this experience at least weekly… truly the best part of our honeymoon! They are the ABSOLUTE best! True gems. It felt like we were with long lost family/friends. We also still use her recipes today when cooking from scratch back here in the U.S. Without a doubt if we can visit again we will be reaching out to see if we can do another class. We promise this is worth booking - we encourage it!!! If you truly want an authentic experience and learn Italian recipes/cooking… this is it… not the large class style. And don’t worry, if you’re wanting to drink, wine is provided :)

What an amazing experience!!! Our teacher actually went to cooking school, AND she was able to adjust her recipes for picky kids’ palettes. This was our favorite activity in Italy so far, and the food was all absolutely delicious!!!! You should definitely book this class!!!

We booked this pasta class for its intimate cooking experience and was beyond blown away. We were welcomed into their beautiful home and family. Ilaria was so kind and informative. She let us ask so many questions and took the time to share even more. Pasta making was so fun, but tasting homemade sun-dried tomatoes and olive oil from their farm was so special. It was the perfect ending and final memory before heading home. We are forever grateful. Can’t wait to share photos with her once we try pasta at home.

This was THE most wholesome experience of our 5 day trip to Rome. Ilaria is charming, patient, welcoming and above all else the most magnificent chef. Ilaria and her family welcomed me and my two sons into their home with warmth. The whole evening felt like we were cooking/chatting with friends, never feeling rushed. The pasta was the best we had during our visit to Rome. Everything was fresh and plentiful, we had full belly's so make sure you go with plenty of room. Honestly, I couldn't recommend this experience enough, it truly made our trip. When peoole ask about Rome, its the first thing we talk about. Thank you for having us!

We had an amazing cooking experience with Ilaria - one of the best excursions we have ever had. We enjoyed tasting 3 different appetizers, 3 different sauces, made 3 types of pasta, in addition to tiramisù. We enjoyed wine through the evening as well. We loved the hands on experience of making pasta. Ilaria was a great teacher, providing guidance and positive feedback along the way. We also enjoyed meeting Ilaria’s husband and children. Ilaria was very warm and welcoming into her home. It truly was an authentic Italian cooking experience!
